The Bachelor of Applied Computer Technology degree program is a general information technology program that focuses on the use and maintenance of computer systems (hardware and software), and the technology needs within an organization or business.
The Bachelor of Applied Computer Technology program's structure at USIU was expertly developed with the aim of providing learners with an opportunity to not only gain technical skills but also to provides a broad, rigorous approach to the fundamental principles of the discipline, combined with their modern day application.
Students begin their degree studying a range of subjects, including Software Development, Information Systems and Digital Systems.
In their second year, they are involved in several core subjects including Databases, Human Computer Interaction and Software Design.
The third year courses include Distributed Systems, Languages and a selection of specialization areas. They also undertake an individual final year project or internship program with one-on-one supervision from one of our internationally recognized academic staff and an industry expert in the case of internship.
Students enrolled in the program also get an opportunity to pay visits to IT firms that develop cutting edge solutions to enable them appreciate the application of their technical skills upon successful completion of their course.
