Bachelor of Development Studies at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology(JKUAT) is designed to help students develop an understanding of basic theoretical concepts in various disciplines of social sciences in order to equip students with a multidisciplinary understanding of development. It also equips students to participate and handle development projects at community national and regional level competently.

Entry requirements for Bachelor of Development Studies

A candidate of Bachelor of Development Studies at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology(JKUAT) must be a
•Holder of KCSE certificate with an aggregate of C+ and a minimum of C in mathematics and English or Kiswahili.
•Be a holder of KCE division two with a credit pass in English or Kiswahili
•Be a holder of KACE certificate with a minimum of two principal passes and subsidiary pass in general paper. Or
•Be a holder of diploma in community development / development studies with a minimum of credit pass from JKUAT or from a recognized institution by the university senate.

Bachelor of Development Studies Course Subjects

Bachelor of Development Studies at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology(JKUAT) is offered in eight academic semesters organized in four academic years. Each semester will have a maximum of nine units and a minimum of seven units each unit having a minimum of 35 contact hours.
