Bachelor Purchasing and Supplies Management Program Offered at Kisii University

This Bachelor of Purchasing and Supplies Management degree is meant to develop and enhance the competence and knowledge that candidates need in order for them to be effective, accountable, economical and efficient in the way that they manage the strategic and organisational operations competitively.

The program focuses on the core skills and is work oriented so as to deliver the program with more emphasis on practical aspects of the purchasing function and innovative approach to issues that are relevant in today’s business environment. Considering the environment and the needs of the target groups, the program is designed in a modular format to allow for structured professional progression.

Currently there is increased pressure on managers to have skills in Purchasing as well as Management of Supply Chains, hence this course is designed to meet the needs of people working both in public and private sectors as well as those who want to enhance their skills in the functional areas of Purchasing and Supplies.
 

The aim of the Bachelor of Purchasing and Supplies Management (BPSM) degree is to provide students with necessary skills in Purchasing and Supplies Management that can enable them to respond to their need for effective management of public and private enterprises.

The specific objectives of this programme include:

• To develop a coherent and broad based coverage of Purchasing and Supplies Management and the underlying principles in the supply chain management.
• To equip the learners with appropriate business skills in Purchasing and Supplies Management.
• To enhance learners confidence and ability to critically evaluate supply chain requirements.
• To enable learners to develop solutions from moral, professional and academic perspectives.
• To provide students with experience in the development of Supply Chain Systems necessary for solving business problems and making managerial decisions.
• To prepare the candidates to undertake research and pursue Post-graduate studies

Minimum entry requirement for the Bachelor of Purchasing and Supplies Management degree program at Kisii University

• The candidate must satisfy the minimum admission requirements of Kisii University senate. In addition, the candidate should have a minimum of C in both Mathematic and English/Kiswahili. OR
• The candidate be a holder of KACE certificate with a minimum of two Principal passes, and a minimum of a credit pass in Mathematics at KCE OR
• The candidate must be a holder of diploma in Marketing,Insurance&Risk Management, Co-Operative Management, from any institution recognised by the Kisii University Senate. OR
• The candidate must be a holder of any other qualification equivalent to the above from institutions recognised by Kisii University Senate may also be admitted.

Based on senate approved guidelines, candidates may be allowed to transfer up to 30% of credit factors from a diploma course.
