Objectives of Diploma in Development Studies and Social Work

The Diploma in Development Studies and Social Work has the following objectives to introduce students to the factors affecting the human and economic development of local communities and nations, relating these issues to the social teaching of the Catholic Church; to impart skills enabling students to animate small groups, to develop Christian leadership qualities in other people, and to encourage communities to become self-reliant through co-operation; to sensitize students to the situation of youth not in formal schooling, and to introduce them to methods of ministering to the social and personal needs of such young people; to impart the principles of planning, management and financial administration for small projects and schools and to give students some of the skills involved.
