The Masters of Medicine degree course in Diagnostic Imaging and Radiation Medicine at the University of Nairobi covers a minimum of four academic years and a maximum of 8 academic years.
The first academic year of study at the University of Nairobi shall constitute part 1 of the course while the second, third and fourth years of study shall constitute part ii of the course.
Part i shall consist of all the examinable courses in the first year of the Master of Medicine Diagnostic Imaging and Radiation Medicine. The degree program shall be by course work, lectures,tutorials,seminars, mult-disciplinary clinical work, practicals, emergency calls in health institutions approved by the School of Medicine, which shall include a primary Health Care Facility and supervised student involvement in the full spectrum of the routine departmental work and clinical duties. Also the residents shall be excepted to undertake self-directed learning.
Part ii of the Masters in Medicine degree programme in Diagnostic Imaging and Radiation Medicine degree program shall be by course work, lectures, tutorials, seminars, multi-disciplinary clinical work, practicals and emergency calls in health institutions approved by the school of Medicine, which shall include a primary Health Care Facility. Also the residents shall be expected to undertake self-directed learning supervised student involvement in the full spectrum of the routine departmental work and clinical duties.
The Masters in Medicine degree course in Diagnostic Imaging and Radiation Medicine candidate shall undertake a research project which shall be presented, assessed and accepted.

Part III Courses(Third year)
The third year which shall form part of the examinable Part ii of the Master of Medicine Diagnostic Imaging and Radiation Medicine shall only be examined by continuous assessment in all the subjects and the course outline shall be as follows;-

Part IV course a (fourth year examination)
The fourth year which shall form part of the examinable part ii of the Master of Medicine Diagnostic Imaging and Radiation Medicine course outline, shall be as follows:-

Diagnostic Imaging and Radiation Medicine.
Advanced clinical practice ii (imaging procedures).
Research project / dissertation.
