Entry Requirements:

Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education with the minimum mean grade of C+ (Plus) And a minimum grade of C+ (plus) in English
OR
A Principal pass in the A-Levels in the Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (A-Levels) or GCE A-Level or the equivalent Kenya Advanced Certificate of education with a minimum of 2 principal passes or the equivalent
OR
A Diploma social work from a recognized institution or the equivalent

Course Objective

The Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences (Anthropology) at Catholic University of Eastern Africa aims to equip learners with the knowledge and skills that satisfies requirements of international and national anthropology programme.

Course Programme

Depending on the prospective students qualifications the Bacheor of Arts in Social Sciences (Anthropology) at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa can be either a four year programme, three year programme.

Four Year Bacheor of Arts in Social Sciences (Anthropology) Programme.
In the first year students must take 12 courses. In the first semester, there is a compulsory english course. Christian Ethics shall be a compulsory course in the second semester.
In the second year students are required to take 12 courses. Three will be compulsory: Social statistics 1, Social Theory1 and Research methodology. These will be offered in the sociology option. In the second semester students will be required to take two common courses - Introduction to the bible and computer literacy.
To qualify for a major in anthroplogy in the third and fourth years of study, the candidate must have scored an average of grade B at the end of their first and second year examinations. Three year programme students are required to have an average of grade B at the end of the first year of study.
In the third year students are required to take twelve courses. During the frst semester, the students will embark on preparing project proposals for research papers. At the end of the second semester of the third year, students should be read to collect data pertaining to their areas of research.
In the fourth year of study students are required to take twelve courses in the first semester. One of the seven courses will be the Bachelor of Sciences research project which should be ready for assesment at the end of the second semester.
