Programme Details:

The master of Arts in Housing and Administration programme at the University of Nairobi has been designed to meet the increasing demand for a higher degree of accountability for those involved in the administration of housing development.

In this field, rapid utilisation, chronic housing shortage and the polarisation of landlord-tenant relationships in both the private and the public sectors have become major policy issues in recent years.

Rent control, physical building dilapidation, rising demand for good quality housing, and increasing costs of building construction and repair have interacted to produce a complex situation for professionals and policy workers in the housing field.

Consequently, the demand for specialised post-graduate education in Housing Administration has been expressed by public and private institutions.

The structure and content of the master of Arts in Housing and Administration programme at the University of Nairobi is such that participants will be encouraged to look at the housing problem not merely as the task of providing more houses, but also of ensuring efficient management of the existing housing stock, its correct utilisation, and its due care and maintenance.
