 MasterThe Master of Arts in Building Management degree programme at the University of Nairobi is intended for graduates practising in disciplines that are directly relevant to the activities of the construction industry; and who wish to pursue careers in management of construction projects or the maintenance of the completed projects in both public and private sectors.

Entry Requirements:

The following are eligible for registration for the degree of Master of Arts in Building Management at the University of Nairobi


A holder of a degree of at least Upper Second Class standing from the University of Nairobi or an equivalent degree from a university recognised by the University of Nairobi senate in either architecture, surveying and photogrammetry, civil engineering, building economics, land economics, estate management and related fields.

Course Objective

The Master of Arts in Building Management degree programme at the University of Nairobi is intended for graduates practising in disciplines that are directly relevant to the activities of the construction industry; and who wish to pursue careers in management of construction projects or the maintenance of the completed projects in both public and private sectors.

Course Programme

The Master of Arts in Building Management curriculum comprises of a two-year programme leading to the award of a master of Arts degree in Building Management.


The Master of Arts in Building Management curriculum shall consist of coursework, seminars and field projects; a written six paper examination at the end of the first year, and a thesis submitted at the end of the second year.

Research Methodology, Management Techniques, Building technology, Project Planning and Control, Construction Economics, Maintenance Technology, Legal Aspects.
