The degree in Gender, Women and Development Studies at Egerton University is designed to address multidisciplinary issues of gender, women and development from the African perspective. The programme targets decision-makers involved in the formulation of gender sensitive policies and those who wish to apply gender knowledge and skills essential to all careers and in the critical realisation of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and Education For All (EFA) goals.
Knowledge on gender and development is relevant in social work, institutional management that promote social and gender equity, legal systems, and community development among others. Gender has become the key element for economic sustainability and social justice. Course participants will be drawn from qualified field practitioners working in areas such as community development, education, government, non-governmental agencies, religious organizations with community focused projects, former diploma course students in Gender, Poverty and Development and other participants with minimum requirements for admission into this programme.
