Objectives of Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences

The Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences Degree program at Catholic University of Eastern Africa aims to:

Entry requirements for Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences

Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education with the minimum mean grade of C+ (Plus) And a minimum grade of C+ (plus) in English
OR
A Principal pass in the A-Levels in the Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (A-Levels) or GCE A-Level or the equivalent Kenya Advanced Certificate of education with a minimum of 2 principal passes or the equivalent
OR
A Diploma social work from a recognized institution or the equivalent

Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences Course Subjects

Depending on the prospective student qualifications the Bacheor of Arts in Social Sciences at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa can be either a four year programme, three year programme, or a two year programme.

Four Year Bacheor of Arts in Social Sciences Programme
In the first year students shall take the four common courses and courses in three option in the following areas: Sociology, Political Science, Anthropology, Economics and Social Work.
In the second year of study, students shall take fourtenn courses in the following options: sociology, Political Science,Anthropology or Economics. Social work students shall take 14 courses in social work.
In the third and fourth years of study, non-specialising students shall take eight courses in their major and four courses in their minor in each year. Students specialising in Sociology, Political Science, Anthropology or Economics shall take 12 courses each year. Social work students shall take 12 courses each year in Social work

Three year Bacheor of Arts in Social Sciences Programme.
In the first year, students shall take two common courses and 12 courses in three options in the following areas: Sociology, Political Science, Anthropology, Economics and Social Work.

In the second and third years of study, non-specialising students shall take 8 courses in their major and four courses in their minor in each year while those specialising shall take 12 courses each year in one of the following options: Sociology, Political Science, Anthropology and Economics. Social Work students shall take 12 courses each year in Social Work.

Two Year Bacheor of Arts in Social Sciences Programme.
In the first year, students shall take one common course, seven courses in Social Work and 5 courses in three options in the following areas: Sociology, Political Science, Anthropology and Economics.
In the second year of study, studentds shall take 14 courses in Social Work.
