About Bachelor of Arts in Economics and History Bachelors Degree program.

The B.A. Economics and History programme at Egerton University combines two closely related disciplines as happens to be the practice in many universities around the world. The diverse courses on offer ensure that students are well-grounded in aspects of the two disciplines. This prepares them for careers in research institutions, NGOs, public administration, business journalism, diplomacy, among other possible career opportunities.

Graduates of the programme will also become professional economists, historians or business people. In a liberalized and open global professional environment these specializations will continue to be in demand and thus enable graduates to market their skills freely across countries.

Economics is concerned with some of the major problems facing the world today such as unemployment, taxation, trade flows, Third world development pollution, political and economic restructuring, among other things. On the other hand History deals with major past events within nation states or regions concerning social, economic, political and strategic issues. These are only a few of a wide range of issue areas covered by history as a discipline. This will be useful training for the student and will serve as a missing link in the acquisition of knowledge needed for linking the two disciplines. Qualified economic historians are few and the programme will hopefully fill this gap in academic and policy areas related to either of the two disciplines.
