Entry requirements for Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences (Social Work)

To be accepted for the Bachelors of Arts in Social Sciences (Economics) programme at CUEA, a candidate requires:
Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education with the minimum mean grade of C+ (Plus) And a minimum grade of C+ (plus) in English
OR
A Principal pass in the A-Levels in the Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (A-Levels) or GCE A-Level or the equivalent Kenya Advanced Certificate of education with a minimum of 2 principal passes or the equivalent
OR
A Diploma social work from a recognized institution or the equivalent

Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences (Social Work) Course Subjects

Depending on the prospective students qualifications the Bacheor of Arts in Social Sciences (Economics) at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa can be either a four year programme, three year programme.

Four Year Bacheor of Arts in Social Sciences (Economics) Programme.
In the first year of study, the students must take 12 courses. Two of these should be in Computer Literacy and Bible Studies. They will also be required to undertake 8-10 weeks of Field Practice at the end of the year.
In the first trimester, they are required to take courses in Sociology, Political Science and any other discipline in Social Sciences.

In the Second year of study at CUEA, the students are required to take 12 courses. Of these, one will be field-oriented in the form of block practice placement at the end of the year. It will constitute 320-400 hours of fieldwork at the end of the year.

In the third year of study at CUEA, the students are required to take 12 courses. There will be an additional 8-10 weeks of field work at the end of the year. At the beginning of the second trimester, students are required to submit topics for their research projects to the Projects Coordinator. University supervisors shall approve all stages in the student's research work. Their signature is a prerequisite for acceptance of the student's report by the Head of Department.
