About Bachelor of Communications and Public Relations Bachelors Degree program.

The Bachelors Degree in Communication and Public Relations is intended to produce communication professionals in various fields, both cooperate and private.
The Bachelors Degree in Communication and Public Relations provides theoretical knowledge and practical skills in Communication, Public Relations, Conflict Resolution, Negotiation and Mediation, Critical Thinking, Problem solving, Public Speaking, Organizational Behavior, Advertising, Management of Change and Research.
Graduates of the Bachelors Degree in Communication and Public Relations program will have high levels of communicative competence and expertise in intra-individual, interpersonal, inter-group and organizational communication for the Government, Industry, Non Governmental Organizations, Business Enterprises, Media Houses, and Educational institutions.
Communication and Public Relations graduates should also be versed in information technology and keep pace with human resource based and global issues related to Communication.

Objectives of Bachelor of Communications and Public Relations

The Bachelors Degree in Communication and Public Relations programme is aimed at equipping learners with skills in:

Essential communication in listening, speaking, reading and writing
Understanding the role of communication in local and global realms
Exploring the place and role of communication in public relations, advocacy, campaigns and management
Co-ordinating both internal and external communication activities
Maintaining relations with the media
Compiling, editing and publishing information.
Developing effective communication strategies for a multicultural society
Conflict Negotiation, mediation and Resolution.
Creative, Critical thinking and Problem solving skills
Maintaining a positive image of a company/ organisation
Applying Information Technology in a professional communication environment
Carrying out research in relevant areas in Communication and Public Relations.

Entry requirements for Bachelor of Communications and Public Relations

At the moment, admission into all the public universities for regular government sponsored students is conducted by the Joint Admissions Board (JAB)
Those enroling under the PSSP programme must have a minimum grade of C+ at the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
In addition to the minimum requirements the prospective Bachelors Degree in Communication and Public Relations applicant should have:
Have at least a C+ in English, a C+ in Kiswahili, a C in Mathematics, at least a B in any subject in group III and a B in any subject in group IV or VI at K. C. S. E
Candidates with diploma qualifications in Public Relations, Human Resource Development, Education, and any other relevant areas will also qualify for admission.
Mature candidates with at least two principals at A level in either sciences or arts subjects obtained in the same sitting may also be admitted.
Admission may also be granted to candidates with equivalent alternative qualification as above on the recommendation of the school subject to the approval of the Senate.
