In the first and second year of Bachelor of science Botany (BSc Botany) at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology(JKUAT , students are introduced to introductory courses. In the third and fourth year of Bachelor of science Botany (BSc Botany) at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology(JKUAT , the student may study Botany as a major, regular or minor subject.
Bachelor of science Botany (BSc Botany) at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology(JKUAT will offer the following programs: 3:3:2:2, 3:3:2:1, 3:3:1:1 as stipulated in BSc (7) and BSc (8) of the Faculty of Science of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology regulations. In third year student can major and graduate degree in the following areas.
- Bachelor of Science in Microbiology
- Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology
- Bachelor of Science in Plant Ecology and Environmental Science
- Bachelor of Science in Plant Pathology
- Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology and Microbiology
- Bachelor of Science in Botany majors/regulars/minors
In the final year of the study, students who major may conduct a research project in their respective specialized areas. They are equipped with skills in data collection, analysis, synthesis and report writing.
Each and every unit has a detailed course description that is available in the department. Note- The major students who take the Biotechnology and microbiology combination can only do one research project in either biotechnology or microbiology. With effect from May 2009 the following specialized combinations with other departments are also possible.
- Microbiology with zoology
- Ecology (botany) with Ecology (zoology)
