About BEd. Early Childhood Education Bachelors Degree program.

This Early childhood education program at Kenyatta University covers theories of child development and programming for children, theoretical coursework, supervised field placement, and observation. Students are encouraged to develop their skills and techniques, for working with small groups of children in activities such as music, art, storytelling, science, and mathematics. Students learn to create and plan instruction based on individual and group needs.

Duration and mode of study of the programme
The duration of study for the programme shall extend over a period of not less than 4 academic years.
The Bachelor’s programme is offered through residential / regular programmes, open learning and school based.

Entry requirements for BEd. Early Childhood Education

  • Minimum of C+ or equivalent OR minimum of C (plain) in KCSE or equivalent, with P1 and two years relevant experience. OR minimum of C in KCSE or equivalent, with credit 11 in an early childhood diploma from Kenyatta university or an equivalent institution.
  • Mean grade of C- at KCSE and progressed from certificate to Diploma at Kenyatta University or any other recognized/accredited Institutions

Examination

The final written examination will constitute 70% of the total mark while the continuous assessment and assignments will  constitute 30%.The pass mark of each course shall be 50%.
