HIV AIDS Program Offered at Kenya Institute of Social Work and Community Development

Since the initial identification of HIV and AIDS, the world has made significant advancements in this area from developing medication which can reduce the impact of HIV/AIDS to creating awareness and social acceptability of those effected.

Education, health practices and cultural awareness are just some of the key elements which make up the management of HIV/AIDS, and these new ABMA qualifications provide learners with a rounded understanding of the background of the subject as well as the knowledge of current and future needs in order to be effective in the sector.

This HIV AIDS certificate programme provides the latest thinking on HIV and AIDS management and will enable our learners to positively impact the wider sector and help contribute to the continuing advancements being made.

This HIV - AIDS programme enables graduates to pursue a career in HIV-AIDS management . At the end of the course the trainee should:

• Understand the role of HIV/AIDS in the development of the organizations goals.
• Understand the legal provisions that govern HIV/AIDS management.
• Demonstrate competencies in prevention, management, care and support of HIV/AIDS patients.
• Appreciate the role of networking and partnership in the prevention, the fight, management, care and support of HIV/AIDS.
• Understand global trends in HIV/AIDS and situations.
• Demonstrate high competence in application of appropriate knowledge and skills in the management and control of HIV/AIDS.
• Demonstrate understanding of innovative ways of being self reliant.
• Apply life skills and behaviour change and communication knowledge in enhancing positive attitudes and prevention measures towards HIV/AIDS and other pandemics in the society.

• Minimum qualifications are KCSE D+ or KCE Div. 3 or the equivalent
