Housekeeping, Laundry and Cookery Program Offered at Kibondeni College of Catering and Hospitality Management

Housekeeping is an operational department in a hotel, which is responsible for cleanliness, maintenance, aesthetic upkeep of rooms, public area, back area and surroundings. 

This Housekeeping, Laundry and Cookery course seeks to provide an overview of the importance of housekeeping and laundry operations and management and the role it plays in meeting the evolving demands of today’s customer.

You will develop skills in providing services to guests and the knowledge and practice of housekeeping and laundry operations.

This Housekeeping, Laundry and Cookery program is developed to equip students with a working knowledge of accommodation facilities it also entails personnel hygiene and hygiene attributes, cleaning methods, rooms attendance, housekeeping services and laundry services.

Upon comleting this Housekeeping, Laundry and Cookery course, you will be able to:

• Understand the role and responsibilities of the housekeeping department in the hotel and other accommodations. 
• Familiarize yourself with the positions, job descriptions and tasks of each position in housekeeping and laundry operation.
• Prepare the budget for the housekeeping department; calculate the staff requirement guestroom supplies, linen, and uniform.
• Know about cleaning chemicals, equipment, cleaning techniques required for public areas, guestrooms and specific areas.
• Know fabrics, linen used in the hotel and select a suitable uniform for the hotel staff.
