About Master of Science in Human Anatomy Masters program.

The Master of Science in Human Anatomy programme at the University of Nairobi runs over a minimum of four semesters and a maximum of ten semesters of fifteen weeks each.

The Master of Science in Human Anatomy programme at the University of Nairobi programme shall be done by coursework and dissertation.


The Master of Science in Human Anatomy candidates shall undertake six core courses and one optional course in the first year and a research project leading to a dissertation in the second year.

Entry requirements for Master of Science in Human Anatomy

The following shall be eligible for admission to the Master of Science in Human Anatomy programme at the University of Nairobi, Medical department:




      1. Holders of Bachelor of Science in Human Anatomy, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, Bachelor of Dental Surgery, Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine, Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Bachelor of Pharmacy.



      2. Holders of Bachelor of Science in Zoology with at least an upper second class honours or a lower second class honours and a postgraduate diploma in a relevant field.



      3. Holders of equivalent degrees from other Universities recognised by the University of Nairobi senate.






Course exemptions


A candidate may be exempted from up to a maximum of one third of the taught courses, provided that these are from institutions recognised by the senate of the University of Nairobi.


Applicants seeking course exemptions shall send a formal application to the Director, Board of Postgraduate studies through the Dean Faculty of Medicine which should include justification of request, and attach evidence of relevant credentials in support of the request. The application shall be processed only after payment of the prescribed fees.


Applicants will only be exempted from a course offered at the level which is equivalent to what is offered by the University of Nairobi.

Master of Science in Human Anatomy Course Subjects

 The Master of Science in Human Anatomy programme at the University of Nairobi runs over a minimum of four semesters and a maximum of ten semesters of fifteen weeks each.

The Master of Science in Human Anatomy programme at the University of Nairobi programme shall be done by coursework and dissertation.


The Master of Science in Human Anatomy candidates shall undertake six core courses and one optional course in the first year and a research project leading to a dissertation in the second year.




The research projects for the dissertation shall be undertaken only after successful completion of coursework.

Microscopic Anatomy (Histology), Development Anatomy (Embryology), Neuroanatomy, Gross Anatomy, Principles of Scientific Communication, Research Techniques & Biostatistics.




Optional courses


Physical Anthropology, Radiological and Cross-sectional Anatomy, Genetics, Clinical Anatomy.
