About Monitoring and Evaluation Diploma program.

This programme is designed to meet the training needs of people who intend to become monitoring and evaluation practitioners in the public and private sectors, especially in the fields of programmes, projects, development, health, education, and environmental fields. Employment opportunities for graduates from the programme exists in Government, civil societies, NGOS, international organisations engaged in development activities and commercial firms engaged in social activities.

Entry requirements for Monitoring and Evaluation

To qualify for admission to the Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation diploma programme at Kenyatta University, candidates must meet any of the following minimum requirements:

  • A holder of KCSE C (plain) or its equivalent or
  • A holder of KCE Division III or its equivalent or
  • A holder of KACE with One Principal and One Subsidiary or
  • A Holder of KCSE C- (minus) with a relevant certificate from a recognized institution.

Monitoring and Evaluation Course Subjects

The programme duration will be two (2) academic years. In the first academic year of study, the learner will take ten (10) units, five units per semester. In the second academic year of study, the learner will take six (6) units in the first semester and two units in the second semester (attachment or research project). The programme consists of eighteen (18) units. In order to qualify for the award of the diploma, the candidate must pass all of these eighteen (18) units.

Examination
The final written examinations will constitute 70% of the total marks while the continuous assessment tests (CATS) and assignments will constitute 30%. Pass mark for all units shall be 40%. Research projects and field attachments shall be assessed out of 100%. The final classification of the diploma will be based on all the eighteen (18) units taken during the programme. The total score will be based on cumulative score average to arrive at the following final classification: 70% upto 100 (Distinction), 60% - 69% (Credit One), 50 % - 59% (Credit Two), 40% - 49% (Pass),39% and below (Fail).
