Entry requirements for Postgraduate Diploma in Psychotrauma Management

 

The following shall be eligible for acceptance to the Postgraduate Diploma in Psychotrauma management at the University of Nairobi;




  1. Candidates with a minimum qualification of a first degree in human or veterinary medicine, pharmacy, dentistry or nursing from the University of Nairobi or any other institution approved by the Senate of the University of Nairobi.



  2. Candidates with a first degree in social sciences, psychology, social work, sociology from the University of Nairobi or any other institution approved by Senate of the University of Nairobi.

Postgraduate Diploma in Psychotrauma Management Course Subjects

Course Structure and Duration


The Postgraduate Diploma in Psychotrauma management programme comprises 6 theory courses, practicum and a research project.


The programme covers one academic year consisting of 3 semesters of 15 weeks each.


A candidate may remain remain registered in the programme for a period of up to 9 semesters.


A candidate may take a minimum of 2 courses and a maximum of 3 courses per semesters.



Course Outline


Fundamentals of Psychotrauma, Etiology and presentation of Psychotrauma, Complications of Psychotrauma, Management of Psychotrauma, Establishment of Psychotrauma services, Practicum in Psychotrauma, Statistics and Research Methods, Research Project in Psychotrauma.


Transfer of Credits


Due to the specialised and practical nature of this course, there shall be no transfer of credits except in extra ordinary circumstances,in which case not more than one unit in theory course shall be transferred and on payment of the prescribed exemption fee.
