About Water and Wastewater Laboratory Technology Certificate program.

The Certificate in Water and Waste Water Laboratory Technology prepares students to operate and maintain water-treatment, distribution, re-use, and disposal facilities, and to monitor water quality.

This program is designed to educate students in chemistry, microbiology, mathematics, mechanical and electrical systems, instrumentation and treatment technologies as they are applied in the water industry.

The Certificate in Water and Waste Water Laboratory Technology of Kenya Water Institute (KEWI) takes two academic year programme with a 12 continuous weeks graded industrial attachment session in the third semester of the first academic year.

Entry requirements for Water and Wastewater Laboratory Technology

The minimum qualification for entry to the craftsman certificate programme in Water and Waste Water Laboratory Technology is as follows:

  • Kenya certificate of Secondary Education with an aggregate mean grade D+ (plus), or
  • An approved equivalent qualification which may be from Kenya or from other countries
  • A minimum grade of D+ in each of the following subjects: English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry or Physical Sciences.

N/B Equation of international academic qualifications shall be done in consultation with Kenya National Examinations council (KNEC).
