Cooperative Management

The Diploma in Co-operative Management is intended to provide students with business management, ethical and technological skills required by the co-operative industry.

Cooperative management as a course is geared towards ensuring that learners are equipped with skills on how to manage the funds held by cooperatives as well as give out these funds in form of loans to their interested parties while making profits through interest rates.

Cooperative management course was initially designed to suite individuals who intended to work in SACCOs but it has been accepted in all sectors of economy.
SACCOs in Kenya are growing, even threatening the growth of banking sector. They have now diversified their activities and joined in Real Estate and Stock Market sector. This growth has created many opportunities for cooperative management professionals.

The main aim of Bachelor of Co-operative Management degree programme

• To develop a theoretical and technical understanding of Accounting, Finance, Banking, Marketing and Human Resources Management concepts and practices and the ability to cope with future developments in these areas;
• To enhance self confidence and the ability to critically evaluate business and management issues, and develop solutions from the ethical, professional as well as academic perspectives;
• To instill a critical and integrated understanding of the world of business, with a firm foundation in related areas such as economics, ethics, information technology, organisation behaviour and co-operative law;

The minimum Entry Requirements for the Diploma in Co-operative Management course are:

• KCSE C Minus;
• Pass Craft Certificate in Cooperative Management;
• Any other equivalent qualification as approved by KNEC.
