The Diploma in Business Information Technology (DBIT) programme at Strathmore University prepares candidates to become specialists in the Information Technology to meet the needs of modern businesses, especially at the middle levels of organisations.


DBIT is designed to meet the increasing demand in the work place for IT professionals with a wide knowledge of business management, technical skills and the capacity to offer support in the implementation of IT-based solutions in a business environment.


DBIT is a University Diploma. The curriculum goes beyond material currently covered in Diploma, Higher Diploma and Graduate Diploma programmes in the common professional programmes in Kenya today.

Entry requirements for Diploma in Business Information Technology

To be eligible for entry into the Diploma in Business Information Technology, DBIT, programme at Strathmore University, a candidate requires to have met the following qualifications:


KCSE Aggregate C+ with a minimum of C in both Mathematics and English.
KACE certificate with a minimum of two Principal Passes and one Subsidiary, and a minimum of a Credit Pass in Mathematics at KCE.
KCSE aggregate C with a Professional Certificate in Information Technology or a relevant discipline from an institution recognised by the Academic Council. 


 Exemptions and Credit Transfers are granted at the discretion of the Academic Council. 


 Candidates awaiting KCSE results can apply using KCSE-Mock results.

Diploma in Business Information Technology Course Subjects

The Dip BIT programme at Strathmore University  is offered in terms of modules over a period of 4 semesters; three semesters in a year. Each module is 60 contact hours.
The course is divided into two Parts: Part I and Part II. Each Part comprises ten (10) modules.
Examinations


•All modules are examined in the semester in which they are taken.
•Examinations consist of Continuous Assessments and University Examinations.
•Continuous assessments will normally comprise practicals, tests and assignments.


Continuous assessments account for 40% of the total marks and written University


Examinations 60% of the total marks. Modules that consist entirely of practical work may be assessed out of 100% by means of continuous assessment.


Each module is graded out of 100 marks and the pass mark is 50%.
