The Katine Technical Training Institute (KaTTI) was established in in 1958 as a local Youth Club. In the year 1972, the Institution changed from a youth club to a Village Polytechnic. In 2012, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology assessed the institution and upgraded it to a Technical Training Institute to train at the Tertiary level and offer Certificate and Diploma Courses.
The Institute currently sits on a 12-acre parcel of land donated by the local community; located about 1km from Tala town, after Tala Girls High School.
